La Trobe's Bachelor of Accounting offers learning in career-specific areas including accounting, auditing, finance, business law and taxation. You can choose to broaden your degree by undertaking a second major or minor in areas such as financial planning, management, forensic accounting and corporate finance.

From July, these terms will commence every six weeks, so international students can begin studying online now and be ready to join us on campus once borders reopen.

Financial and management accounting

Recognize and apply the accounting principles that govern the preparation, presentation and communication of accounting information.

Auditing

Understand concepts involved in the auditing process and integrate them with practical applications.

Tax

Examine Commonwealth income tax legislation and the implications of income tax on individuals and businesses.

Business law

Investigate the core principles of contract and consumer protection law, property law and negligence.

Economics and finance

Learn a variety of economic concepts and how they're applied in business and policy-making.

Statistics

Explore the relationship between businesses, financial systems and the wider world.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognized in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.

Financial accountant

Analyse and manage the accounting records and financial statements of businesses to ensure consistency with reporting standards.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Accounting is accredited by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Depending on campus, students may be required to complete specific electives in order to graduate with the CPA Australia and CAANZ accredited qualification, please refer to the Handbook for further details.
